Part 3 -The Vanishing Village: The Keeper

The Vanishing Village: The Keeper feature image showing Ethan Parker confronting the cursed black bell, Elias, and Morvak inside the ancient underground chamber.

“Every curse has a Keeper… and every Keeper must one day choose a successor.”
The hotel room had become unnaturally cold.

A layer of frost crept across the windows, and every clock hanging on the walls had frozen at 6:15 PM.

Ethan Parker still gripped the silver bell, but its once-powerful chime had faded into a weak whisper.

In the corner of the room stood the old shopkeeper.

Only this time, his eyes glowed with an eerie crimson light.
Resting in his hands was the same cursed black bell that had imprisoned The Vanishing Village beneath its curse for over two centuries.

The old man smiled.
“You saved the village, Ethan…”
“But every curse has a Keeper.”
Ethan’s voice trembled.
“A Keeper?”
“The one destined to guard the bell…
As long as the Keeper lives…
The curse can never truly die.”

The Last Blacksmith

The old man stepped forward.
“My name was once Elias.”
“I was the greatest blacksmith of my age.”
“I forged swords for kings…
And bells for the holiest temples.”
“But one stormy night…
A mysterious sorcerer came to my forge.”
“He placed a strange metal before me…
A metal known as Night Iron.”
“He ordered me to forge a bell…
One capable of imprisoning time itself.”
“I believed I was creating a masterpiece of science…
Instead…
I forged an instrument of dark magic.”

The First Keeper

The moment the bell was finished…
The sorcerer vanished without a trace.
But the bell had already chosen its first Keeper.
It chose me.

From that night onward…
I continued to age…
Yet death never came for me.
Every evening…
At exactly 6:15 PM…
The bell summoned me back.
No matter how far I ran…
It always found me.
The Next Keeper
Ethan shook his head.
“But the village is free now.
That means you’re finally free.”
Elias laughed.

A hollow, hopeless laugh.
“No…
The bell is never abandoned.”
“When one Keeper is released…
Another is chosen.”

The Vanishing Village: The Keeper showing Ethan Parker facing the cursed black bell and Elias inside the frozen hotel room at 6:15 PM.

The cursed black bell slowly rose into the air.
Ancient crimson runes ignited across its surface.

It drifted toward Ethan.
Like it had already made its choice.
The Silver Bell
Ethan raised the silver bell given to him by the wandering monk.
He rang it.

DONG

The two bells answered each other.
Their sound collided with terrifying force.
Every window in the hotel exploded.
Outside…

Dark clouds swallowed the sky.
Yet the cursed bell continued moving toward him.

Elias whispered,
“The silver bell can restrain the curse…
But it cannot deny the Keeper.”

The Book of Keepers
Suddenly Ethan remembered the old leather map inside his backpack.
Its surface began to glow.
A hidden page slowly emerged.

Across its cover were written the words—
The Book of Keepers
As Ethan opened it…
Hundreds of names filled the ancient pages.
Every name was followed by a date.
Near the bottom…

Fresh letters slowly carved themselves into the paper.
ETHAN PARKER
The space beside his name remained empty.

Waiting.
Beneath the Ruined Church
The following morning, Ethan returned to the ruins of the abandoned church.
The village had disappeared.
Only endless fog remained.

Yet beneath the broken stones…
The staircase still waited.

He descended into the darkness.
The enormous stone door stood open.
Beyond it lay a vast circular chamber.
At its center rested a towering stone throne.

Above it…
An empty iron stand.
Elias stared at it.
“This is where every Keeper takes their place.”
“As long as someone sits upon that throne…
The bell can never truly disappear.”
Morvak
A pair of burning red eyes appeared within the shadows.

The Vanishing Village: The Keeper showing Morvak confronting Ethan Parker while Elias sacrifices himself to destroy the cursed black bell beneath the ruined church.

Then…
A gigantic figure stepped into the light.
Its body was made entirely of living smoke.
Its face resembled a man.
Its head bore twisted horns.
Its eyes burned like molten fire.
Its voice echoed through the chamber.
“I am Morvak…”
“The Devourer of Time.”
“The bell was my prison.”
“And every Keeper…
Was my chain.”

Morvak fixed his gaze on Ethan.”Become the next Keeper…And I shall never touch your world.””But refuse…And every city…Will become another Black Hollow.”

Silence filled the chamber.

This was no longer about Ethan’s survival. It was about the future of humanity.Elias slowly fell to his knees.

“This nightmare began because of me.””My greed created the cursed bell.””So let it end with me.”

He embraced the black bell against his chest.Dark flames erupted from its surface.Elias screamed in unbearable pain.

At the same moment…Morvak staggered backward. His form began to fade.Elias looked at Ethan one final time.

“Run!”

“While I can still hold him!”Ethan raced toward the staircase.Seconds later…A deafening explosion shook the mountain.

The earth trembled beneath his feet. When the dust finally settled…The underground chamber was gone. The throne had vanished. The bell had disappeared.

Morvak was nowhere to be seen. And Elias…Had finally found peace.Or so Ethan believed.

Three months later…

Ethan was hosting a photography exhibition in London.Visitors admired the haunting photographs from Black Hollow. Then a young boy approached him.In his small hands rested an old black bell.

“Excuse me, sir…”

“Does this belong to you?”The color drained from Ethan’s face.It was the same bell.

Every crack.

Every rune.

Every scar.

Only one thing had changed.New words had appeared beneath the ancient symbols.

A Keeper Never Truly Dies.

Suddenly…The bell rang by itself.

DONG…

Every clock inside the exhibition froze.6:15 PM.Ethan slowly looked around.Standing silently among the crowd…Was a man smiling. His eyes…Were glowing crimson once again.
