The Brave Squirrel and the Dream of Flying

Fun and inspiring story for kids! Brave squirrel Chikku tried to fly, fell repeatedly, but never gave up. A lesson in believing in dreams and keeping trying.

Once upon a time, in a dense forest, lived a small brown squirrel named  Chikku was very mischievous and agile, but he had one big dream – to fly!
All the other squirrels, like Golu, Molu, and Bholu, used to laugh at him. They would say, “Hey Chikku! You are a squirrel, not a bird! Squirrels jump, they don’t fly!”
But Chikku never listened to anyone. Every morning, he would climb a tall tree and look at the clouds. He would think, “I wish I had wings!”
One day, Chikku decided that he would fly by himself.

🌰 The Adventurous Plan
Chikku collected the biggest and strongest leaves that had fallen in the forest. Then, using his sharp teeth, he began to tie them together. It was a difficult task, but Chikku did not give up. He worked day and night without telling anyone about his plan.
Three days later, he had prepared something made of leaves, which looked somewhat like a small kite.
The next day, with the first ray of sun, Chikku reached the top of the tallest tree in the forest, which was called the ‘King of Heights’. All the other animals and birds gathered below. They were all wondering what Chikku was going to do today.

🌟 The First Attempt
Chikku tied his leafy ‘kite’ to his back. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes tightly, and shouting, “I can fly!” he leaped from the tree!
Thud!
Chikku fell to the ground in just a few moments. His leafy kite also broke. He was a little bruised, but not seriously hurt.
All the animals started laughing again. “Didn’t we tell you!” mocked Golu.
Chikku became sad. He started thinking, “Maybe they were right.”

The Moment of Inspiration
Just then, a wise Owl Baba came near him. Owl Baba gently said, “Child, just because you fell, it doesn’t mean you can’t fly. It means you have to try a different way.”
He continued, “Failure means you made an effort. This is not the end; it is a new beginning.”
Hearing Owl Baba’s words, the spark returned to Chikku’s eyes.
He started working again. This time, instead of leaves, he used light twigs and large, smooth seeds, which made his ‘kite’ stronger, yet lighter in weight. He also learned about the direction of the wind and balance from Owl Baba.

🥇 The Flight of Victory
The following week, Chikku again reached the ‘King of Heights’ tree. This time he was calm and confident.
He checked the wind direction. He tied his new, improved ‘kite’ to his back.
When he jumped this time, he did not fall! He slid through the air! His ‘kite’ saved him from hitting the ground. Chikku glided around in circles as he came down, as if he was sliding in the air. He did not ‘fly’, but he ‘glided’ and stayed airborne for a while!
When he landed safely on the ground, all the animals and birds started applauding.
Golu the squirrel said, “You really did it, Chikku! You are the first squirrel who has travelled so far in the air!”

🤔 The Lesson
Children, the lesson we learn from this story is that:
Believe in your dreams, no matter what others say.
Don’t be afraid to fall. Every failure teaches a new lesson.
Keep trying. If one way doesn’t work, find another way.
The one who tries is always more fun than the one who wins!
